Becoming an affiliate of the Queen Mary Centre for Predictive in vitro Models provides a range of benefits to our affiliates, enabling us to share opportunities for collaboration, engagement and networking. Examples include:

Research Collaboration

Multidisciplinary collaboration with Queen Mary Bioengineers, Scientists and Clinicians covering a wide range of research expertise related to in vitro models. There are multiple opportunities for research including research grants, knowledge transfer partnerships, PhD studentships, and contract testing.

World Class Research Facilities

Access to one of the largest, most comprehensive in vitro models facilities in Europe with 5 commercial organ-chip platforms, biofabrication facilities, microfluidics and associated cell culture, microscopy etc. These facilities are open to our affiliates for research collaboration, contract testing, or hands-on training. 

PhD studentships and Training

Affiliates have the opportunity to support PhD studentships through Queen Mary's Centre for Doctoral Training in Next Generation Organ-on-a-chip Technology (COaCT). These 4 year studentship provide a fantastic opportunity to conduct research project aligned with industry needs and to train future leaders for positions within your organisation. The studentships can be part funded by our £7M grant from the EPSRC, providing excellent value for money. 

Events and Networking

Participation in our events with opportunities for networking and shaping the field with leaders from academia, industry, government and other stakeholders. This includes special affiliate meetings, seminars and events associated with our Centre for Doctoral Training, our annual Queen Mary VIP reception ('A Night of Science and Engineering') as well as our annual UK Organ-chip Symposium.

CPD and other Training

Access to CPD and bespoke hands-on training for your organisation. Previous examples include a bespoke extended training programme  for a major biopharma company using the Emulate organ-chip platform, and a specially organised visit from RSPCA fund raisers to learn about organ-chip technology.
