Queen Mary University of London has been ranked 92nd in the world and 9th in the UK in the 2024-25 edition of the influential U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities rankings.

The U.S. News & World Report ranking assesses the world's top 2,250 universities across a range of measures focusing on academic research performance and reputation.

Queen Mary's rise of 8 places on its 2023-24 global ranking is the latest in a series of international successes, including:

  • The 2024 THE World University Rankings placed Queen Mary 14th in the world and 5th in the UK for the quality of its research.
  • The UK Government's 2021 Research Excellence Framework (published in 2022) placed Queen Mary joint 7th in the UK for the quality of its research, with 92% of its research across the University assessed as internationally excellent or world leading.
  • On 4 June 2024, Queen Mary celebrated a 25 place rise in the 2025 QS World University ranking (to 120th), the greatest rise among the Russell Group of research-intensive UK universities.

Professor Colin Bailey CBE, President and Principal of Queen Mary said: "Queen Mary's research and educational activities have high impact and continue to go from strength to strength. I'm delighted to see this reflected with Queen Mary in the top 100 of the U.S. News & World Report global ranking."
