Interests

Dr. Abish Stephen is an expert in developing microcosm bioreactors tailored for volatile metabolomics, providing insights into microbial metabolic interactions. His research focuses on elucidating the oral microbiome’s influence on local and systemic diseases, using advanced co-culture models to study ecological interactions between bacteria and fungi. By integrating genomic, transcriptomic, and metabolomic analyses of these models, Dr. Stephen is pioneering approaches to identify biomarkers for the early detection of cancer. His work bridges microbiology, bioinformatics, and systems biology, advancing understanding of the human microbiome’s role in health and disease.
