The Centre provides access to the BiomimX organ-chip platform enabling mechanical stimulation of 3D microtissues using the uBeat Setup composed of the uBeat® Platforms and the uBoX Pro.

uBeat® Platforms

The uBeat® Platform supports the culture of 3 independent 3D microtissue models within a single device and provides a controlled mechanical stimulation to the microtissues through the patented uBeat® Technology (https://www.biomimx.com/technology/). There are two types of platforms: uBeat® Stretch for uniaxial stretching deformation and uBeat® Compress for confined compression

uBeat® Stretch

Suitable for 3D Tissues subjected to stretching (e.g., heart, muscle, tendon) and  barriers subjected to stretching (e.g., gut, lung, skin). Available versions:

  • uBeat® Stretch10 (10% deformation)

uBeat® Compress

Suitable for tissues subjected to compression: e.g., cartilage, bone, etc and available as:

  • uBeat® Compress10 (10% deformation)
  • uBeat® Compress30 (30% deformation)

uBoX Pro

Mechanical Actuator, uBoX Pro is the control system able to provide the mechanical stimulation to each uBeat® Platform. By connecting a pressurized air source, uBoX allows the operator to choose among several patterns (characterized by frequency, duty cycle and on-off timing values) or even to create personalized ones, with a customizable level of complexity.
